Coming up on Monday is the 21st of September. The lyrics the “21st night of September” from “September” by Earth, Wind and Fire, inspired a massive global dance trend. The lyrics were chosen simply because it sounded best rhythmically. For some fun have a boogie and follow along to this track:

Tap Exams

Studio Etiquette & Reducing Injury Risk
We want to remind everyone that even though the dancers may get sweaty in class it is still cold outside when they have to leave after their classes. All dancers should be wearing a jacket & pants/sweats to and from the studio and shoes MUST be put on before exiting the studio.
Putting on warm clothes after a dance class before going outside in the cold helps prevent muscles from cooling too quickly, which can reduce injury risk (this also applies to any other sport or physical activity). Layering is especially important in winter to maintain body heat and ease the transition from the studio to the outdoors.

Jewellery in Classes
Just a reminder to our TDC families that our uniform policy doesn’t allow large earrings, rings, necklaces, watches and bracelets. This is to ensure the students safety and prevent them from sustaining injury to themselves or others. Please remind your children to remove these items before class. Thank you!

Happy August
Woohoo! Happy August, classes have been busy and we are nearing closer to the big recital on December 5th! Make sure to ask your children what they learned in classes each week and encourage them to show you and practice at home.
Practicing at home between classes will help your dancer build up their confidence so they have a fantastic stage experience when performing.

Did you know there are only 158 days until our Recital on Saturday the 5th of December?! This is a friendly reminder to encourage your dancers to have a practice at home each week between their classes to help them feel amazing when they get on the big stage!

Adult Ballet Classes - Thursday Mornings
Ballet isn't just for kids! It's for anyone who wants to move with more strength, more control, and a little more elegance. You're never too old or inexperienced to learn ballet and gain the benefits from it.
This winter, we're running two 6-week adult ballet classes, so wherever you're starting from, there's a place at the barre for you. (inside and out of the cold too!)

Jazz Hand July
Here is a fun fact, did you know that “Jazz hands" weren't just for their fun vibe, they were actually choreographed so performers could be seen in the dark, poorly lit stages by catching the stage lights!

Monthly Awards - April
Over the next 3 days we will be announcing the last quarter’s monthly award winners! Each month, our teachers look for dancers who are openly practicing our TDC values in the studio and in their classes. Our values at TDC are Respect, Kindness, Adaptability, Age Appropriateness, and Learning Life Lessons Through Dance.
APRIL — The Growing Mind Award
Value Focus: Learning Life Lessons Through Dance
Awarded to a dancer who:
- Tries again after making mistakes
- Accepts corrections positively
- Shows perseverance
- Understands that effort matters more than perfection
“This dancer is learning how to grow, not just how to dance.”
The following dancers were chosen for their efforts in applying corrections given, writing corrections in their notebooks without being prompted, attending class without their parent, consistently practicing to improve themselves, and positively changing their attitude in class.

Chookas for Performance Team
Our performance team dancers officially start their competition season today! This weekend they will be competing in their first competition of the season with their jazz, lyrical, acro, and tap routines they have been working on for the past 5 months.
We can’t wait to see them shine on stage and share their love of performing with the audience and judge.

Dare To Dream
Congratulations 🥳
Last weekend on Saturday the 13th of June some of our TDC dancers performed in our production of the Dare to Dream Junior Musical at the Zenith theatre in Chatswood.
We are so proud of everyone's hard work and of their performances and we want to thank all of the TDC families who attended the show for coming to support these young artists. Also, a huge thank you to the parents behind the show running your children to and from rehearsals and for supporting their dreams!

Victorian Dance Festival
Miss Jess, Miss Maddie & Miss Imy are at the Victorian Dance Festival in Melbourne this weekend learning from some of the best in the dance industry. We started today off with a musical theatre jazz class with Al Blackstone, Emmy award winning choreographer from New York!!
We’re excited to bring back everything we learn to our dancers at TDC!!

Google Classroom
Have you signed up?
BAND is no longer used for our dancers' classes (except for our preschoolers), and we have now transitioned to Google Classroom. It is super important that all of your children are signed up for this and have joined their new classrooms.
Google Classroom is now our new communication channel for our dancers within each of their classes. It will contain all videos and weekly updates the students need for the year, and especially for the recital.

Our new zip hoodies and track pants are ready for ordering! Hoodies can be customized with a name, and our track pants can be worn as part of the hip hop uniform requirement in our hip hop classes.
Both items come in toddler, child, and adult sizing. Toddler & child sizes come in black, and adult sizes have 3 colour options to choose from.
Note: We will not carry stock of these items; they are pre-ordered only.
We will be placing weekly orders for the next 4 weeks. Items take 3 weeks to arrive, so if you want yours ASAP, order by Saturday this week!

Uniforms 🩰👯
Welcome back! Going into Term 2 we want to see all our amazing students dressed correctly in their TDC uniforms. Uniformity is an important value here at TDC as we want all dancers to look and feel equal when they attend their classes.
Wearing proper attire is also important for safe dance practice. If dancers wear baggy tops and loose clothing to class then teachers can not properly asses the dancers' body alignment which can negatively impact dancers and even result in injury.
If you are missing part of your uniform (including proper hair supplies), or are not sure, come see us in the office. As it gets colder from now onwards, we also have crossover wraps that can be worn in classes, and jackets ready to be worn to and from class!

HAPPY ST PATRICKS DAY 🍀✨
May today bring you lot’s of green, good luck, and cheer. If you are feeling lucky you might even stumble across a a four leaf clover.
Did you know that it takes a recessive trait to develop a four leafed clover, which is why the plants are rare and hard to come across. For every four leaf clover there are roughly 10,000 three-leaf clovers.
