Wands and Flags
In our babyballet classes, we use wands and flags as a fun way to practice our plies, rises, and ballet walks!
As we have a limited supply at the studio, please ensure your dancer has a wand or flag of their own that is not broken. If you need a new one, pop into the office to buy a new wand!

Got a cough?
If your dancer has a cough and it is accompanied by a fever or runny nose, we would appreciate if you could keep your dancer at home to recover and not spread any illnesses to others.
A cough on it’s own is OK as it can last awhile after recovering from a sickness. Here’s a great fact sheet for parents to see what to action when a cough shows up in your little ones life.

Shoes
In our babyballet classes, we do two styles of dance; Ballet and Tap!
It is very important for our dancer’s to have their own ballet and tap shoes that fit as we have very limited spare shoes that may not fit your dancer causing discomfort and annoyance for our dancers while they are dancing.
Please make sure your dancer has both their ballet shoes and tap shoes in their dance bag when they attend class. If you are missing a pair of these shoes, or your dancer has expressed discomfort in trying their own shoes on as they have grown out of them, you can pop into the office to buy a new pair that fits!
Another helpful tips is to label your dancer’s shoes with their name in the odd circumstance where their shoes stumble away from their bag!

Refining motor skills
In babyballet, we work on fun skills such as hopping! In order to perform a hop, our dancers need to utilise skills such as balance, coordination, body awareness, confidence and endurance.
Hopping helps develop strength in the lower body, increase cognition by making dancers think about the jump timing and body awareness, and sensory and body awareness by understanding where one is in space!
Want to try it at home? See if you can hop as high as a bunny with your bunny ear hands.

How Tapping can help your Preschooler
Tap dancing is a style of dancing that has evolved from a combination of Traditional West African Dancing and European clog dances. It involves shoes with metal plates at the bottom that makes sounds when they hit the floor. Tap dancing has many benefits for your little dancer including:
Motor Skills
Tap can help improve coordination, balance and rhythm through different footwork when tapping the different tap plates onto the floor.
Cognitive Skills
Dancers are able to develop their listening skills and focus through learning different patterns and rhythms.
Musicality and Creativity
With the tap shoes having metal plates at the bottom, Tap uses feet as a form of percussion instrument. By listening and creating rhythms, your dancer is able to learn musicality, timing and syncopation in their babyballet classes!

babyballet Values
In our babyballet classes, our values are applied within our classes to develop your little dancer’s skills and love for dance! These values include:
Socialising and Making Friends
In our babyballet classes, students are able to talk, learn and encourage each other, allowing the essential socialisation skills to be developed from an early age.
Co-ordination
babyballet classes help develop dancer’s co-ordination through learning how to move different parts of the body, improving their proprioception.
Caring
Through the act of sharing with others and taking care of our belongings, dancers develop the skills to be caring individuals, being able to treat their peers and belongings with respect.
Fun
babyballet lessons are developed in such way where your dancers are able to have fun and spend time doing something they enjoy. Fun is essential for growth as students begin to investigate themselves and the world around them.
Posture and Poise
babyballet classes encourage young dancers to begin to understand the movement of their bodies, improving their posture from a young age and allowing students to develop the essential poise needed to do everyday tasks.
